Consulting

This is the module with which the assignment starts.
We begin by conducting meetings with all stakeholders to understand their views on:

  • where their company is & where it can be
  • its strengths & weaknesses, opportunities & threats
  • future technological changes expected
  • how their users will interact with their products
  • how they can change their business offerings
  • how to achieve market leadership

We then – along with the customer - research published reports on industry trends and ideate how that would influence the customer.
The output of this module is:

  • product roadmap
  • specifications of products in roadmap
  • technology roadmap
  • identification of gaps in in-house capability to execute the road-maps
  • plan to fill in the identified gaps

Design execution

This is the module in which we follow the entire product development lifecycle as detailed below:

  • Convert specifications to system requirements
  • System architecture
  • Break up system requirements into sub-system requirements
  • Design hardware, firmware, software, mobile apps, cloud services
  • Integrate sub-systems and build system prototypes
  • Test, verify and validate prototypes
  • Conduct DFMEA
  • Conduct type testing (in external accredited laboratories), accelerated life testing, user trials, field trials
  • Certification compliance testing (in external accredited laboratories)

Manufacturing Support

This is where we set up the manufacturing for the electronics that we have designed and prototyped. In this module, we do the following:

  • Create manufacturing documentation
  • Identify EMS vendors
  • Conduct PFMEA
  • Set up manufacturing process
  • Design and make manufacturing jigs and fixtures
  • Oversee pilot manufacturing
  • Set up incoming, in-line and outgoing quality norms and systems

Servicing Support

The next thing to be done is setting up servicing. In doing this, we work with the service department and plan:

  • Service network
  • Repair strategy
  • Spares availability
  • Servicing aids - jigs & fixtures

Maintenance

Any product is likely to need some small tweaks and feature upgrades which are not large enough to call for the introduction of a new version of the product.
We manage this maintenance of existing products. This also includes taking care of component obsolescence and configurations management.

The next version of the product is defined by taking inputs from the product roadmap and subsequent learning obtained during the design of the current product version.
This new version is taken through all the steps from Design Execution onwards to realize and introduce it to the market.
